Activities

The Association of the Department of English organized several programmes with the able leadership of Mr Saji Joseph, Head of the Department, Mr Subin Varghese and Miss Nimisha George, Faculty Coordinators, along with the student flag bearers of UG and PG.

Our UG and PG students attend various seminars and lectures conducted by various colleges.

• Linat Varghese won second prize in the debate completion conducted at Malabar Christian College, Kozhikode.

The Department conducted the Parent Teachers Meet for all the UG and PG batches in the month of December in the Department Seminar Hall. All the Parents were present for the meeting. Mr. Saji Joseph, Head of Department shared them the details of various resources and facilities available in the department. All the faculty members of the department were present for the meeting. The class teachers met the students individually and discussed academic performance of the students during the semester.

We began the activities of SEA (Students of English Association) for the academic year 2019-2020 with an inauguration on 2nd September 2019 at 10.00 am in the College Auditorium. Mr. Prasanth V G, Head of Department of English, RSM SNDP Yogam College, Koyilandy was the Chief guest to deliver the Inaugural talk on Postcolonialism and Literature and Rev.Fr.Bobby Pullolickal CST presided over the function. Mr. Saji Joseph, Head of Department welcomed the gathering, Miss Nimisha George, Staff Coordinator felicitated the function and Miss Anju Johny, Student Representative proposed the vote of thanks. A lecture and discussion on Postcolonialism and Literature by Mr. Prasanth V G was conducted for the PG students on the same day.

On 16th July 2019, the third semester students introduced the first semester students and asked them to talk on their dreams, aims and aspirations. The session helped the students and the teachers to get acquainted with the fresh faces in the department.

A new venture 'Theatre Club ' was inaugurated on 16th October 2019 in the Department Seminar Hall. Mr. Jayaprakash Kulur (Actor, Director and Scriptwriter) inaugurated the function. Mr. Saji Joseph, Head of Department presided over the function and Mr. Subin Varghese, Staff Coordinator felicitated the gathering. Mr. Albin, student representative proposed the vote of thanks. A workshop on “Theatre and Acting” by Mr. Jayaprakash Kulur was conducted on the same day for the interested students in the department of English.

A one day workshop on Research Methodology “ Pro Literati” was organized for the final year UG and PG students on 7th January 2020. Mr. Toby K Joseph Assistant Professor, Department of English, Mary Matha Arts and Science College, Mananthavady, interacted with the students and clarified their doubts on research and its standards.

The Association conducted a State Level Inter Collegiate Quiz Competition “ Quest” on 12th February 2020. Dr. S. Nagesh, Former HOD, Department of English, St. Joseph's College, (Autonomous) Devagiri, Kozhikode was the quiz master. The first prize of Rupees 10000 was secured by the team from St.Joseph's College Devagiri, Kozhikode.
